What can I do to help?

Sangha is sanskrit for community. For sharing, for a space, within and without where we may commune with like hearted friends… The sense of community that we grow up in tends to be a bit… weird ? isn’t it ? We’d like to share our vision of what we intend community to be.

A yoga studio is a business, and yet, can it not be much more than that?

Volunteering at Santosha can be check-in check-out, go to class…. or…. it can be much more. Ottawa (The WORLD!) benefits from more conscious living, people to truly gather and engage its citizens. We invite you to consider a manifesto of sorts.

That Santosha be yours, and the students who come. Your playground, your family, your Yoga studio, that people might feel a true welcoming once they come in, beyond simply saying ‘shanti shanti om’. People feel those vibes, (even though sometimes we pretend they don’t matter).

To be a studio that functions by the desires of the yogis, by recieving feedback to help shape classes, workshops, events, and the composition of what flows through at Santosha.

Where do I fit in?

YOU the volunteers are here to instigate the student participation and insight, through surveys and engaging with the community of yogis who come to practice. What do you see the most awesome yogi|ni crew doing, do they host yogathons is parks, do they create special asana worshops for kids, do they have flash mobs in the market with ghetto blasters, do they have meditation and potlucks together? Do they get a sense that they get back what they give, and thus that they can give with their whole hearts? We need you to think about this, to sit with this, and to know that your ideas are welcome, SO WELCOME!

We’d like you to all get trained in how to use the computer system ASAP, and ideally have all volunteering be done with two persons at a time, so that there is time and opportunity for these ideas to come alive, flourish and be manifest.
