THE LOCATION

The Osa Peninsula is one of the most intense, biologically diverse, beautiful, natural, lush rainforest areas on the planet. Boca Sombrero, our retreat centre, is located right on a secluded beach without any other groups or hotels within sight or even walking distance. The surf beach is right on the property, and all of the accommodations either have ocean view or are located close enough to hear the ocean gently rocking you to sleep at night.

The area is filled with wildlife: colourful macaws, parakeets and capuchin monkeys as well as the early morning alarm clocks known as howler monkeys. The retreat centre is nestled ecologically in the rainforest with a large casa for meeting and dining and a variety of accommodations depending on your tastes and preferences.

MEALS

The daily meal plan generally includes a selection of fruit, granola and yogurt before the morning yoga class, a big brunch afterward, a light lunch and a fabulous buffet dinner. The cuisine is light and delicious with an emphasis on fresh produce. Throughout the day, coffee, tea, juice and fruit are available.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

The travel destination is Boca Sombrero , in the Osa Peninsula. There are three parts to your journey: 1) international flight 2) local flight, and 3) transportation to the retreat centre.

You will need to book an international flight to Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose , Costa Rica to arrive the first day of the retreat. Some itineraries have you arrive the evening before, in which case we have a number of recommended hotels for you in San Jose.

Local flights leave out of Juan Santamaria International Airport or Tobias Bolanos Airport (a short drive away) to take you to Puerto Jimenez. We will arrange to meet you at the arrival of your local flight in Puerto Jimenez, and drive you or arrange a taxi to take you to the retreat site, Boca Sombrero. Local flights can be booked through Sansa or Nature Air, or access Sansa reservation through Boca Sombrero web site here. Please visit their websites for schedule and price information.
